Delta Air Lines first scheduled flight at Keflavik International today

Delta Air Lines started scheduled operations at Keflavik today, 2. June.  Delta‘s first flight arrived shortly before 9 this morning carrying about 140 passengers with Captain John Magnusson, an Icelander who has flown for Delta for many years, at the helm.  The flight was met by the American Ambassador in Iceland, Luis E. Arreaga, Mr. Frank Jahangir of Delta Air Lines And Minister of Industry, Energy and Toutism, Katrin Juliusdottir, who said that the Delta Air Lines operation will promote increased travel to Iceland and is very positive for the Icelandic tourist trade.
 
Delta will conduct five flights per week to Keflavik until October. The arrival of this new operator at Keflavik International brings considerably increased travel opportunities for Icelandic travelers. Delta carries a total of 160 million passengers annually with 700 aircraft to 347 destinations in 64 countries and on 6 continents. The airline operates 13.000 flights daily and cooperates with major airlines like Air France and KLM. 
 
Delta‘s departure time at Keflavik is at 10:50 AM with arrival at JFK Airport í New York at 13:05 PM local time. The Iceland flight departs JFK at 23:35 PM and arrives at Keflavik International at 09:10 AM the following morning.  The operation is outside early morning and late afternoon peak traffic at Keflavik.
